Historic House in Jaenmal, Eumseong (Traditional House of Kim Ju-tae)
The Old House of Kim Ju-taek
Address
Jaetmal Village, #239-1, Yeongsan-ri, Gamgok-myeon, Eumseong-gun
While it is known that this old house was built nearly 300years ago, it appears that the Sarangchae (men’s quarters) was constructed in 1901 (the 5th year of King Gojong’s reign in Joseon dynasty) while the Anchae (women’s quarters) was built during the mid-19th century.
Since former Chungju governor Park Gyu-hui’s family have lived here for generations, this house is called ‘Parkchampandaek.’ In terms of special structures, this house is a valuable ancient architecture specimen displaying patterns typical of traditional Korean houses.
